One turn after another, Zyki stalks silently through the many streets of the Great City of Avalon. As she makes her way through the throngs of people, she glances all about, keeping a wary eye out for any Thieves that might have an eye on her money pouch. Dressed as she is in her dark armor with her two scimitars strapped to her back, she seriously doubts that she'll be a target, but it's always best to be cautious.
Pausing at a four way passing, she looks up into the night sky. Her eyes are narrowed in thought, a frown apparent on her lips. What is it that Falla wants? Why does she wish to meet me in such a hidden, obscure place? A soft sigh escaping her, she returns her gaze back to the street, her eyes narrowed this time in irritation. It's much too bright here. The street lamps in this section of town are always kept lit at night and their light easily blots out the distant diamonds that dot the sky above. Shaking her head, she continues on down the twisting, winding maze that is the connected roads of Avalon.
Eventually, the lampposts become farther and farther away from each other, the buildings and roads becoming less well kept. Shadows swamp the roads and creep up the buildings, the lampposts becoming distant circles of brilliance being swallowed by the darkness. The few pedestrians wandering this section of the city skirts the lights, knowing full well to stay away from their revealing rays. A damp, musty stench fills the air; a mix of decay, defecation, and stale beer. This is the Night..., Zyki thinks quietly, a thin smile taking hold of her, ... my Element. Danger lurks in this section of town, the gray area where the better part of the city falls into the Slums; the middle area just before the poor section. It has no name, but it's easy to see where the line is drawn.
Turning to her left, down a small alleyway, Zyki slips silently through the shadows. Nearing the end of the alley, she pauses and stares out into the small courtyard just beyond. The meeting point, she's arrived.
It's not a very well taken care of place, with many cracks in the stones and plants growing wild all around. But at it's center is a small fountain, and it still runs. The statue in the center is so covered in moss that it's hard to tell what it once was, but if one were to look closely, they may just see the figure of a chubby Fawn tipping a bucket over in his hands, out of which the still clear water falls. All in all, it's a secluded and peaceful place, undisturbed by most players and the perfect meeting place for a group of people dealing in shady business.
Speaking of which... Standing near the edge of the fountain is a lone figure, obviously waiting for someone. Striding boldly from the alleyway, the Night Elf openly approaches the figure. She knows that in a one on one fight, she'd win against Falla, hands down. Standing now just in front of her, Zyki crosses her arms and stares directly into the others eyes. Without preamble, she begins. "What is it that you want, Falla?" Her voice is low and melodic but clearly irritated.
Grimacing, Falla shifts her weight a bit. "I will make this quick and clear. You're out." Blinking once, the Night Elf murmurs, "Fine." Pausing, she then adds, "Tell me one thing, though, and then I'll leave you and yours alone. Why?" It's not like she'd not expected it. Despite the fact that the group of people she'd been hanging with recently has been her longest period doing so, she'd felt unrest in their ranks and knew that she was the cause. It'd only been a matter of time, but she simply accepts it, for it's how it's always been.
"Because, I can't trust you. As our group status rises in the Underworld, we need less... resistant members. You don't follow orders well and more often then not do as you please. We can't have that, so we're letting you go. Don't come around the Den any longer, your welcome has been far worn out." Without another word, her warning given, Falla stalks away, her boots ringing loudly against the courtyard stones.
As silence descends once again over the area, Zyki slumps against the fountain. A bitter laugh bubbles up out of her, a short bark at yet another failure. Dropping her left hand into the clear water at her side, she stares darkly into the ripples. "Will it be this way always?", she mutters softly, her own reflection staring sadly back at her. "Forever lost in this pit of existence?" So lost in her thoughts is she, that she's paying little attention to her surroundings, a rare thing indeed, for her.
(OOC: Please forgive the length, I'll be sure to shorten my posts next time. >.>)
