The Shiverpeak Mountains stood bleak and uninhabitable in the falling light, the sky swallowing its peaks above stared down with an unfriendly countenance. Grey and swirling upon the snow battered edges that had never any know any relief from its relentless cold.
Almost insignificantly the two forms trudged though the snow and against the wind that had picked up but a few minutes ago, almost capricious in its need to delay them from reaching their destination. Biting, nipping, casting the snow adrift in helpless obedience. In comparison to the elements they were small and almost too easy to overlook in the expanse of white. Laid out a distance behind them were their foot prints but beyond their steps had been covered in falling snow swallowing their progress like a slow stalking monster.
The brown haired girl seemed lost in thought as she went sharp gaze still alert enough to be aware of her surroundings but so quiet she hadn’t spoken for a good long while. Not when she’d lost her footing a distance back and slipped into a snow hidden crevice and not even now as the snow and wind whipped the hair round her face. Storm grey eyes held only the determination to continue forward.
Heaven gave a small puff of irritation watching it crystallize in the air before her. Her original intention had been to reach the southern entrance before night and that was still her main focus. She’d taken them off course more than a couple of times but thankfully she’d found her way again. The fact that there was snow, snow and more snow didn’t help in getting bearings. The foliage had thinned out and left them a long time ago. Now there was barely anything in sight except for the distance and more snow. She felt some comfort in that Perdita had joined her now and she’d endured her constant whining even though as a ghost technically the weather was nothing for her.
It was a small price to pay for the familiar company she presented having seemingly forgiven her though she still held Ri with more than a little suspicion. Heaven clutched the fur coat against the wind unsure if the action was to protect herself from the elements or to simply feel it wonderingly. In fact she’d been doing that ever since it was given to her. Something so simple but ultimately very confusing.
Still the snow had to end at some point…right?

Ri trailed behind Heaven her foot sinking into the snow leaving a wolf paw print behind her she keep her eyes on the snow and Heaven keeping both within her vision incase something happened and she had to act fast. Breathing in the cool air she let it out watching as the steam faded into the air giving a soft shiver when her tail touched the snow she gave a small sneeze before moving on.

‘I think your 'companion' might be on the brink of a cold if you do not stop and take shelter’ came the voice almost sneering over the word she placed special emphasis on. Heaven’s brows drew together momentarily. There was a schedule to follow. She wanted to follow it. Needed to least she feel like she was giving into a snow storm. Giving up and admitting defeat. Such things stung with the most unbearable annoyance.
‘Oh! And now she sneezes!’ Perdita announced with a little too much glee as she rushed back to her side in a none too subtle displacement of air ‘a cold for sure.’ Heaven turned slight worry in her gaze it was hard to know when Perdita was exaggerating or not. Should they stop? They had been going for a long time, and with the environment as it was, flying would be pointless. She would miss the entrance under all this snow. This was best done on the ground.
“What’s ahead?” she murmured quietly knowing it would be easier for the ghost to scout ahead though it was done amidst a lot of complaining, returning what seemed like only seconds later. ‘More snow’ was the sarcastic answer but at Heaven’s annoyed huff she added ‘you can both endure another two hours of this or thirty minutes and rest in the cave ahead but—.’
“Ri, we’re making a stop.” She said abruptly over the wind that threatened to swallow her words, holding out her hand to beckon her closer.

She shook her head silently. Well techinically it was true she thought to herself. Perdita was more a 'something'.
"Nothings wrong." she said simply. Convincing Perdita to part with the image of the cave was only slightly harder than having her scout had been but once the image was in her head she could picture it accurately enough for a teleport. She wasn't willing to give it thirty minutes.
Once Ri was in range she simply grasped a hold of her hand. She could have done it with her simply standing close enough but she wasn't willing to take any risks. Not even the smallest hint she thought closing her eyes as she felt herself thin out. The feeling was strange, the first few times you did it. A small tingling sensation followed by a sense of liquidation. It was extreemly tempting to give in to it and completely loose track of where it was you needed to go. It was a reason why you started small. The further the distance the longer you had to hold on to consious thought. She'd also never taken anyone with her before.
Seconds later she rematerialised in a cave, long and hollow leading off further into the mountain. Chilly and dark its maw opened up onto a blanket of falling snow carried by on the winds. A small squeeze of the hand still in hers to confirm she'd come with her and she let it go before moving to the opening. Looking out she spoke "We'll wait it out. There is no point in continuing through this."

A smile played round her lips at that and she gave a small nod. "Thats how I felt the first few times. Don't worry, it will pass." and with that she began exploring the cave they were in looking down into the distance hoping it was uninhabited. She wasn't at all in the mood for surprises.

"Perhaps you ought to sit down for awhile." she suggested running her hand down the side of the cave. It was dry and not damp. The ground wasn't too hard either. There was no chance for a wood burning fire in a place like this she thought. A quick glance back towards the entrance told her there would be none out there either. A magical fire would have to suffice once she'd finished making sure the cave was empty. Then again...
She looked at Ri for a quiet second before returning to her search almost detached again as she spoke deliberately ignoring the faces Perdita pulled as she imitated a dramactically exaggerated shiver. "Are you cold?...in here I mean."

Ri blushed she didn't think she was noticed she had been cold a few miles back down the mountain but she had made no protest, hanging her head she nodded "yes". Heaven wore the only fur clothing she had plus after a while it still got cold.

Her eyes closed momentarily as she realised she'd probably just allowed the girl to freeze unnecessarily because she had in her usual inconsiderate way failed to understand she wasn't the only one on this little trip. She felt strangely like a complete heel where she wouldn’t have cared a jot. It was probably a good thing they'd stopped.
Exploring the cave was forgotten now she took off the fur and wrapped it round Ri before pulling her against herself keeping her in the circle of her arms as her cheek came to rest against the girl's temple. "Should have said something." She said fingers interlocking as she murmured softly. The least she could do was warm her up and this, she thought as the warmth encased them both. It was one of her stronger spells toned down for warmth on a more comfortable level than scorching hot. Faint symbols shimmered in and out on the ground below intermittent and fluctuating. The feeling wasn't painful in anyway, it was rather like having hot chocolate on a cold day, seeming to spread out from within only this time it reached everywhere with gentle comforting tendrils.
"Next time just tell me, you will be useless to me if you are not working at 100% efficiency." she said quietly admonishing as she concentrated on keeping the warmth level. Mind you it was harder to do than usual, there was that usual urge to pull away from her as if burnt but this time there was another distinct reason attached. Still she felt she could endure it for awhile.

She wasn’t unprepared for the slump but she was a little surprised at the arms that wrapped themselves round her and pulled her closer. It filled her with a mild sense of panic as it always did. For a moment she was completely rigid before relaxing the tension a little to lower them both to a seated position on the ground, amazingly without breaking her hold. If she liked it that much then Heaven would stay till she was pushed away.
Outside the wind still howled and the snow still fell. It didn’t look like it was near giving up yet but she still held out hope. Perdita had taken to sitting at the entrance knees tucked under her chin with her arms wrapped round them. She stared back at the two girls for fifteen or so minutes with a petulant pout then finally shifted muttered something and proceeded to stare again.

Ri mumbled something incoherent before sighing and letting go of Heaven her arms hanging at her sides for a moment before she took the cloak off and put it back on Heaven "You wanna rest for the night and move on in the morning"

"If that is what you wish." she answered simply as she returned it shaking her head gently. "You keep it least you get cold again. I can find my own ways to remain warm." Then rising to her feet she returned to her exploration. She wanted a small circle of stones and she promptly set about her task finding it a lot harder than it should have been in such a dark place.
What they needed was light and heat in this place. Especially if they wished to stay till the next morning.
